One of the things that strikes the first time visitors to Lanzarote is the number and kind of accommodation they find there and the style it’s organised. The services of the four key resorts throughout the island – Puerto del Carmen, Costa Teguise, Playa Blanca and the newest, smallest and poshest holiday centre at Puerto Calero – tend to be arranged in layers
Those layers consist of; initially, the beach; then, the beachside road and walkway, lined with shops, bars and restaurants, and third; accommodation. Compared with loads of alternative holiday locations, the accommodation in resorts on Lanzarote covers a lot of ground, because high-rise buildings are not allowed
Various types of accommodation so tend to come across alike from the outside, whether they are hotels or complexes of self-catering apartments or villas. The similarities in scale are reinforced by the nearly common covering of the island’s buildings in white color, creating an image of big sugar cubes, sprinkled widely over the areas at the back of the restaurants and shops.
Some hotels in Lanzarote, however, do have beachfront locations, while one at least has managed to treat the beach in front of it as its own exclusive beach.
Arriving at certain of the key hotels in Lanzarote in any of the leading resorts, visitors are likely to find themselves checking in at a reception desk in a generous, bright foyer, with exits to smart restaurants and bars, landscaped swimming pool areas, sports services and, increasingly, health resort and wellness services.
Four-star hotels in Puerto del Carmen feature the Sol Lanzarote, Beatriz Playa, Jameos Playa in the quieter Matagorda corner; the Riu Palace and San Antonio, close to the wide Pocillos beach, and the Los Fariones hotel, with its independent beach next door to Playa Chica.
Hotels of the same standard in Playa Blanca are the Princess Yaiza; H10 Rubicon Palace, Lanzarote Princess and Timanfaya Palace; Iberostar Papagayo and Natura Palace. Costa Teguise has the Beatriz Costa and Spa; Occidental Oasis and Grand; the quite recently opened and the luxurious five star Gran Melia Salinas.
There are also two very big hotels in the comparatively latest resort of Puerto Calero, near Puerto del Carmen, where the Hesperia and Iberostar groups have built grand four-star accommodation behind and above the harbour bursting of luxury yachts

As the summer approaches, more and more people are thinking about spending the sunny season abroad. After all, who wants to stay in Britain during summer months? Of course, Spain is still without a doubt the most well-known destination with amazing places like Costas, Canaries and the Balearics.
Lanzarote is the eastern most of the Canaries - making it the closest of these seven islands to the African continent. It offers both winter and summer sun, thanks to it´s incredibly clement year round climate and Lanzarote Flights are readily available at any time from all UK airports with flights times a measly four hours. With the return trip costing around €100, the holiday island is one of the most attractive of all.
Hotels and attractions in Lanzarote are also incredibly high standard with a wide range of accommodations to choose from. The island is also littered with an excellent choice of Lanzarote villas available for rent in all of the main resorts and towns across the island, as well as in the countryside too.
Lanzarote is an ideal tourist destination as the island is quite small, which makes it that much easier for visitors to get out and explore. Lanzarote car rental is an excellent way to get around the island to see the sights, rental costs are very cheap plus some roads seem totally devoid of traffic..
So what are the top locations that tourists can look forward to? Lanzarote boasts of some of the best beaches with stretches of sand for the tourist. Unlike the other Canary Islands the vast majority of beaches here are made up of golden, rather than black sand. This is actually unusual considering how the area is more volcanic as it has experienced eruptions for the last 300 years. The Playa Quemada and El Golfo also has samples of black sand should one want to try it out.
The talents of artist César Manrique also made it possible for the buildings to have an aesthetic appeal. Tourists will find that the island boasts of a palette of colors with white buildings blending perfectly with plants and flowers.
The north of the island is greenest and far more verdant in contrast to the south of the island which is predominantly very dry. There one can find the Valley of 1000 Palms where the birth of a baby marks the planting of a new plant. The market is also alive every week with crafts and arts, most especially on Sunday where the biggest sales are done in Teguise, former capital of the island.

There´s loads of good events and festivals to take in if you are intending to visit Lanzarote island in the Canarian archipelago this summer, offering some thing for holiday-makers of most ages . Including the Heineken Jazz Event, the Professional Windsurfing Association World Tour as well as the prevalent fiesta of Nuestra Senora del Carmen.

One of Lanzarote´s most colourful fiestas takes place in August as the festival of Nuestra Senora del Carmen touches down in Puerto del Carmen, the largest resort on the island. This event takes place yearly and runs from July 28th through until August 7th. This is usually a dazzling event and should not be missed.
This event is extremely accessible and always worth attending as it draws crowds from across the island, so if you are staying in Playa Blanca holiday villas or Puerto del Carmen villas you simply have no excuse not to attend. If you´re jetting off to Lanzarote this summer then you could visit three Canary Islands in one go. As both Fuerteventura and La Graciosa are near neighbours of this popular, Spanish owned holiday destination that is situated just off the coast of West Africa.
There are officially seven islands in the Canaries - but La Graciosa is often referred to as the eighth. As it is home to around 600 residents. And all of these islands boast great weather and sunshine all year round. Which makes them an attractive and affordable alternative to better known options such as the Caribbean for anyone seeking a good value winter break.
Many tourists are beginning to book apartments in Lanzarote direct online with the actual owners or smaller local holiday agencies nowadays, thanks to specialist travel websites. Nearly all Lanzarote holiday villas boast a private pools, in addition to plenty of other household luxuries. Whilst the large majority of apartments are located on well managed holiday complexes.
There’s always going to be a whole host of attractions to do and discover on The island of lanzarote but if you are based in one of the numerous incredibly good quality Lanzarote villas that are offered for rent and fancy a break from the poolside then a day trip over to the gorgeous neighbouring islands. As both La Graciosa and Fuerteventura are easily reached in little more than around 30 minutes and the sea crossing to either of the islands mostly pretty calm, especially in the high season.
Fuerteventura is the second biggest of the Canary Islands but remains quite undeveloped and is not very densely populated. Welcoming around 1.5 million foreign tourists every year, Fuerteventura´s main attractions are its beaches. Which are enormous by comparison with Lanzarote.
La Graciosa (the Gracious One in English) is much smaller and even more undeveloped. There are no tarmac roads here and as a result very few cars. Instead the locals get around in 4×4´s which also serve as taxis, transporting visitors to different beautiful beaches around the island, such as La Concha in the north. Visiting La Graciosa feels a little like exploring a desert island, or stepping back in time. Not least as life here runs at an even slower pace than on Lanzarote.
For a incredibly good sunshine holiday anytime of the year, a break on Lanzarote will unquestionably leave you healthy and fully relaxed when it’s time to go home.
