There are plenty of different accommodation choices for anyone thinking of picking a holiday break on Lanzarote. Because this small Canary Island located approximately four hours flight from the British isles offers lots of different different places to holiday - from Chic hotel accommodations in the primary holiday resorts through to individual properties in the middle of the countryside.
Lanzarote first became popular as a holiday vacation destination around the 1970’s and 80’s, during the time package deal vacations first started to be accessible. With tourists approaching its high water mark in 1993, during which time the island welcomed 2 million foreign visitors. And although the number of foreign arrivals has tailed off a little since then the island still attracts plenty of visitors, despite increased competition from newer destinations such as Turkey and Egypt.
Despite the increased competition though, the island still remains a popular holiday choice though, not least as it offers such a diversity of different accommodation options, which means Lanzarote is able to cater to all budgets and tastes.
Throughout the last few years holiday villas have grown to be ever more popular and there are at this moment estimated to be in excess of ten thousand villas in Lanzarote available for hire in all locations across the island. The majority of these can be found in Lanzarote’s primary holiday resorts. Most of these rental properties boast private swimming pools and are available for rent 52 weeks of the year - thanks to Lanzarote’s incredibly mild climate. And with prices ranging from €450 per week upwards depending on location and time of year, there’s plenty to shout about.
Purto del Carmen villas tend to be more expensive than similar properties in other resorts, reflecting larger plot sizes and superior build quality. So if you are thinking of booking a break in Lanzarote’s largest resort you’ll need to allow about €600 per week, possibly more if you plan on going in a large group.
Aside from an extensive range of Lanzarote villas there are over 200 hotels on the island. Six 5 star establishments cater to the upper end of the tourist market, with the bulk of these establishments offering 4 star accommodation. Playa Blanca is the resort to head for if you are looking for a good value beak as the hotels here are much newer and there is a much greater range of choice than in either Puerto del Carmen or Costa Teguise. The Natura Palace and the H10 Rubicon Palace are amongst the most popular establishments.
